This week’s GeekDads panel (Scott Jangro, Sam Harrelson and Joe Magennis… Daniel M Clark was away this week) focus on three hot topics in a 40 minute show.
First, the guys catch-up on Scott’s new skeleton crew work schedule brought on by having an infant in the house. The conversation turns to the question of schooling and whether year-round school is preferable for parents and children over the widespread “summers off” schedule that is still with us despite America no longer being an agricultural economy that needs such a schedule.
Then the conversation shifts into the main focus of the show over the question of childhood immunizations. It is impossible to pick up a newspaper (or website) without seeing a new study or report on whether or not immunizations are linked to the alarming rise of autism rates in children. The guys come to the same conclusion based on their own experiences and raise the issue of seriously monitoring everything we put into our childrens’ bodies (food, medicine, drink, etc).
To wrap up, Sam discusses an insane children’s toy/clothing consignment event in Asheville over the past week.
Next week, the show turns 10 and all we want are some G.I. Joe figures and a baseball mitt (and a party at the skating rink).
