In which Daniel, Drew and Greg manage to scrape together a series premiere at the last minute. The new show gets explained, San Diego Comic-Con gets some love, and Greg gets Pete Rose’s autograph on a comic book. Also, Drew eats hot dogs. Lots of hot dogs. Weird hot dogs.
See, the thing is, we weren’t going to do the show today. Well, we were, but then we weren’t. Greg was supposed to be unavailable because he’s on vacation. Then Drew emailed me and said he was doing a Hot Dog Month thing and couldn’t make it. Then Greg said he’d do the show from his hotel room in Vegas, but I told him Drew couldn’t make it either so let’s just do it next week… but then Drew emailed me again and told me he’d be home in time after all. Sheesh.
We kicked off our inaugural episode with a segment about what the show is about and why it’s called Zap! I also explained the weird numbering… it’ll all make sense in the end. Along with a new show, I redesigned QAQN recently. New theme, new look & feel. I’m really loving it, despite it being a little unorthodox. Oh – and the Prince joke that I mangled at the beginning of the segment? The way I tell it is that Prince should really be called The Artist Formerly Known As The Artist Formerly Known As The Artist Currently Known As Prince. There ya go.
The major segment this time was the news out of San Diego Comic-Con. We touched on the big Marvel movie news (Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Thor: The Dark World), and Iron Man 3’s new mustard armor. Seriously, have you seen it? It’s like looking at a giant upright hot dog, all it needs is a bun.
In DC news, Neil Gaiman will be back on Sandman. Yep… that’s about it from DC this time. Safe to say that Marvel pretty much killed ’em at SDCC.
Greg is on vacation in Las Vegas, which prompted me to mention that Affiliate Summit West 2013 has had its dates changed. It will now be taking place January 13-15th at Caesar’s Palace, which is, coincidentally, where Greg is right now. His vacation is going quite well. He got to spend 20 minutes talking with baseball legend Pete Rose and had a couple of items signed.
Drew gave us the rundown on his National Hot Dog Month efforts with Rob Merlino. They’re having a lot of fun and if you’d like to throw in a little support, they’d really appreciate it.
We wrapped up with a mention of a fascinating article that went viral a few days ago: 10 Things Most Americans Don’t Know About America. If you haven’t read it yet, give it your attention for a few minutes. It’s a bit long, but well worth your time.
Thanks for listening!
